Elementary Engineering Partnerships (EEP) is always looking for passionate University of Michigan students who are excited to make a difference in K–12 education. By becoming a facilitator, you’ll have the chance to inspire curiosity and creativity in young learners through fun, hands-on engineering lessons.
Facilitators are undergraduate students from a wide range of majors and backgrounds who work directly in elementary classrooms across Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti. Each facilitator leads weekly one-hour modules over a 5–7 week period, helping students explore real-world engineering problems and discover how science and teamwork come together.
No prior teaching experience is required—just enthusiasm, reliability, and a genuine interest in working with children! EEP provides all lesson materials and full training before you begin. Our program also emphasizes reflection and collaboration: facilitators meet weekly to share experiences, discuss classroom strategies, and strengthen their communication and leadership skills.
If you’re a University of Michigan student interested in community engagement, education, or engineering outreach, EEP offers a rewarding opportunity to develop those skills while giving back to local schools.
Applications for new facilitators open at the beginning of each semester. Positions are volunteer-based, though some may qualify for course credit or fulfill service learning requirements depending on your department.
